HIGHLIGHTS, Feb. 27, County Commissioner Meeting

1) The Escalante Creek Bridge project is underway (temporary bridge placement pictured).

2) The draft Rogers Mesa Access Control Plan will be officially presented to the Commissioners by hired consultants, Stolfus and Associates on March 6 (the Commissioner’s next public meeting). The consultants will also present their plan for public review and input.

3) Sheriff Fred McKee presented a draft OHV (off highway vehicle) ordinance addressing four-wheelers on county roads. At next Monday’s public meeting, Commissioners hope to review the ordinance again with input from legal counsel. If approved, the ordinance will be posted in the DCI for public comment before going to resolution.

4) Select stakeholders, including representatives of a mountain bike and an OHV group, are currently reviewing a Request for Proposal (RFP) to develop a recreational trail plan.

5) Area towns are concerned about going over budget due to a proposed, unplanned rate hike for trash disposal at the county’s landfill. Town officials are asking the Commissioners to make the increase effective in the next budget year.
