****NOTE: The budget is broken into four separate funds and totals almost $30,000,000. Delta County holds no debt and, in fact, maintains a very healthy reserve (a minimum of 25% of each budget’s total expenditures).
Bottomline, the county is in the black despite big loses in severance tax (taxes collected from nonrenewable natural resource mining).
ON THE WATCH LIST:
*Plans to maintain an expensive, part-time contract County Planner in light of a masterplan update
*$500,000 budgeted for community help to implement broadband (sounds good, let’s find out what is being offered)
*$480,000 in lottery funds budgeted for WHAT recreation
