• Commissioners will attend community meetings hosted by local law enforcement officials to rally favor for a one percent sales tax ballot initiative to help fund increased police work.

• Commissions signed off on the first draft of the Grand Mesa Uncompahgre and Gunnison National Forest Plan. “I appreciate the scope of involvement the Forest Service has provided (during this process),” said Commissioner Roeber.
The Forest Service will hold a public meeting on July 9 at Heritage Hall in Hotchkiss from 5:00 to 7:00 PM. The public is encouraged to attend. Email comments can also be sent to: gmugforestplan@fs.fed.us
• John Wagner with County Technical Services, Inc., told Commissioners that the county is on solid ground where liability insurance is concerned. The county participates in an insurance pool with 51 other counties to help spread premium costs and loss risk. The county pays $269,000 per year in total insurance premiums.
• Commissioners approved $2,500 in funding to the Crawford Chamber of Commerce for entryway signs.
• Road & Bridge asks that residents avoid water overflow or sprinkling the road with their large-scale watering systems because this can cause considerable damage to county roads.
