County Commissioner Public Meeting Highlights

MASTER PLAN DEVELOPMENT – TOP OF THE WATCH LIST
Master plan development awarded to RPI, a Durango firm (http://rpiconsulting.org). County Administrator, Robbie LeValley, contract planner Kelly Yeager, and a DOLA representative (Colorado Department of Local Affairs) to develop general timeline and discuss specifications.
I asked the commissioners for a high level of public involvement in all processes. I further asked if zoning would be a part of the plan since Delta County Planning Commission minutes state that “the commissioners are committed to zoning.” I received no reply but will follow up.
Folks, it’s been 20-some years since we’ve have an update to our county’s master plan. This is a BIG deal and establishes the “ground rules” for future policies and regulations. This topic will be on the TOP of our list of activities to watch.

*UPATE ON CPACE
Commissioners have not yet met to discuss Solar Energy International and Colorado Department of Energy’s proposed participation in CPACE program (https://www.colorado.gov/pacif…/energyoffice/colorado-c-pace). On the watch list.

*RESOLUTION TO DECLARE NOVEMBER HOSPICE AND PALLIATIVE CARE MONTH
Brought by Nancy Hovde, representing Hospice West in Delta, this national declaration was adopted unanimously by county commissioners. Nice work Nancy.

*MEDICIAD IS REBRANDING
Interesting news coming from the county health and human services department: Medicaid’s new name is “Health First” and the food stamp program is now called “SNAP.” Gads, marketing.
