HIGHLIGHTS, Dec. 12, County Commissioner Meeting

1. John Bair, Assistant County Attorney, to append county airport hanger lease policy to include language requiring an inspection of the lease-holder improvements upon lease renewal. Current lease-length starts at 25 years with a renewal for an additional 25 years. NOTE: The county has two airports supported by lease, repair and fuel fees. Does the county, at least, break even? A closer look at the airport budget might be in order.

2. Road and Bridge staff discuss the pros and cons of using “fossil water” or Magnesium chloride for snow/ice and dust control.

What is “fossil water?” From the Cortez Journal: “So-called “fossil water” is pulled from deep underground during oil-and-gas extraction and then treated for use on gravel roads.” http://www.cortezjournal.com/…/Water-from-oil-and-gas-drill…

3. Commissions went over language in a resolution to opt-in to the Commercial Property Assessed Clean Energy program (C-PACE). A sample resolution was supplied by the Colorado Department of Energy and the county attorney’s office modified that resolution to add a six-month review process among other small revisions. They commissioners will vote on the resolution at Monday’s public meeting (Dec. 19, 9:30am).
