HIGHLIGHTS, Dec. 19, County Commissioner Meeting

1. Chris Miller, Interpretive Association of Western Colorado executive director, presented commissioners with a list of possible projects the county could help fund in 2017. Upgrading educational materials and hands-on exhibits at Fort Uncompahgre Living History Museum on the Old Spanish Trail in Delta were among the items listed. The association’s mission is the preservation of Western Colorado’s cultural heritage and landscapes. See more: http://wcinterp.com

2. Commissioners voted yes to opt-in to the Colorado Commercial Property Assessed Clean Energy (C-PACE) program. As the 12th county in Colorado to opt-in, this program allows Delta businesses (commercial, industrial, agricultural, governmental and nonprofit) to take advantage of long-term financing for energy efficiency, renewable energy installations, and water conservation projects with no upfront costs. 3. Dave Knutson with the Grand Mesa Nordic Council (a local organization that promotes Nordic activities on the Grand Mesa) briefed the commissioners. Top mentions included a possible fundraiser for a fleet of rental ski equipment – a $17-18,000 investment. Nordic Council will own the equipment but two Mesa locations would handle the rentals: Grand Mesa Lodge and Mesa Lakes Lodge. http://www.gmnc.org
