HIGHLIGHTS, Sept. 18, 2017, County Commissioner Meeting

  • Tony Vervloet, brother-in-law to Commissioner Mark Roeber, was appointed to replace Bruce Bertram as the county’s Colorado Oil and Gas Conservation Commission Local Government Designee. Commission Roeber recused himself from the vote to appoint Vervloet and remained Commissions that they had already appointed him as interim designee when Bruce took as extended vacation last year. Former County Administrator, Susan Hansen, and Alex Johnson, Executive Director of Western Colorado Conservation Center was presence to wish Bruce well.   • Jack Spring, Cheryl Husmann updated Commissioners about activities going on at Blake Field Airport. The airport has seen a 260% increase in traffic mostly due to planes coming in to refuel. Cheryl reported that the airport is out of access and Commissioner Atchley said he wants to see the county move forward adding pavement and expand services. Blake Field is due to receive 7.1 million in grant funding from the Federal Aviation Administration early next year.

 

  • Negotiations continue between County Commissioners and the City of Delta to finalize a Downtown Urban Renewal Authority (DURA) Intergovernmental Agreement (IGA). Under a 30-day extension period County Commissioners sent a revised proposal – the second — to go to DURA board. If rejected by the City of Delta, another extension could be proposed and/or the agreement might go mediation.
  • Colorado Mountain Bikers Association is applying for a grant to improve the Mac Ridge Trail and the Spring Creek bridges. Commissioners approved a letter of support that would accompany the group’s grant application.
